Graphite is widely used in industry, and it is used in almost every industry. Artificial graphite is commonly used in industry, that is, special graphite. According to its molding method, it can be divided into the following types.

How is graphite formed

1. Isostatic pressing formed graphite. It is called three-high graphite by many people, but it is not three-high that is isostatic.

Isostatic graphite requires structurally isotropic raw materials. The raw materials need to be ground into finer powders. Cold isostatic pressing technology needs to be applied. The roasting cycle is very long. In order to achieve the target density, multiple impregnation and roasting are required. Cycle, graphitization cycle is also much longer than ordinary graphite.

2. Molded graphite

The molding method is to put a certain amount of paste into a mold with the required shape and size, and then press it from the upper or lower part. Sometimes a certain pressure is applied to the paste simultaneously from the upper and lower directions, so that the paste is compressed and formed in the mold. The pressed semi-finished products are then demoulded and cooled for inspection. Then pile up. Molding equipment includes vertical presses and horizontal presses. The molding method generally can only press one piece of product at a time, and the production efficiency is relatively low. But it can produce certain products that the extrusion method cannot. Molded graphite has a wide range of properties in terms of mechanical strength, friction resistance, density, hardness, electrical conductivity, etc., and can be further improved by impregnating resin or metal.

3. Extruded graphite is mostly electrode material.

The extrusion method is to put the paste into the paste cylinder of the press. The corresponding front of the press is equipped with a replaceable extrusion circle (exchange the cross-sectional shape and size of the product), and a movable baffle is installed in front of the mouth. , Behind the paste cylinder is the main plunger of the press. Block the rice at the mouth of the mouth before pressurizing. When pressurizing, the pressure does not move forward and the material is compressed. When the baffle is removed and pressure is continued, the paste is squeezed out from the squeeze nozzle. Cut the extruded strips into the required length, and stack them after being cold and persistent. Extrusion is a semi-continuous production, that is, after adding a certain amount of paste, several products (graphite block, graphite material) can be continuously extruded, so the production efficiency of the extrusion method is much higher than that of the film method.

At present, most carbon and graphite products are produced by extrusion. Molding method is often used to produce cold-pressed graphite with smaller size or products with finer structure

According to the particle size of graphite, it can also be divided into: detailed structure graphite (high purity graphite), medium and coarse graphite (generally around 0.8mm), and electrode graphite (2-4mm).
